When KPLC goes off, solar emergency lights in Kenya keep your home, shop or office lit without costing you a shilling to run. SolarCity stocks rechargeable solar lights for power cuts, available from our Nairobi shop.

Stay safe and keep working during blackouts

Power cuts interrupt cooking, children's homework and shop trading. A solar emergency light is a low-cost backup you can move from room to room.

Who they are for

• Households that want light during outages.
• Small shops and kiosks that must keep trading.
• Offices, salons and clinics that need backup lighting.
• Homes with an unreliable grid connection.

What to check before buying

• Run time on a full charge and how long it takes to charge.
• Brightness settings.
• Battery type.
• Extras such as a phone charging port or hanging hook (see each product page).

Frequently asked questions

How long does a solar emergency light last at night?
It depends on the battery and brightness setting. Run time is listed on each product page.

Can I charge it indoors?
